New South Wales Imperial Bushmen
This is an extract from the War Diary written by Major David Miller, Adjutant of the New South Wales Imperial Bushmen who arrived in the Mozambique port of Biera and then moved to Rhodesia as part of the journey for deployment in South Africa to see action in the Boer War.
19 July 1900 - Thursday
Reveille as usual. Marched out at 6.30, arrived at wagons 7 miles distance at 9.30 a.m.. Troops cleaned up, had lunch, arrived at Bulawayo at 3.30 p.m.. Old Hussar camp 3 miles from Town.
The column has reached Bulawayo and is camped some three miles out of town.
