Embarkation Roll, 30th Reinforcement

 

HMAT A47 Mashobra

 

3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 30th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A47 Mashobra 29 January 1915.

The HMAT A47 Mashobra weighed 8,174 tons with an average cruise speed of 12.5 knots or 23.15 kmph. It was owned by the British India SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 21 December 1916. The Mashobra was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean, 15 April 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

3468 Private Hubert John James ALLERT, an 18 year old Farmer from Victor Harbor, South Australia. He enlisted on 14 March 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 March 1919.

3469 Private Robert Roy ARTHUR, a 24 year old Farmer from Boolaroo, South Australia. He enlisted on 12 March 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

3473 Private Frank Launsley BARNS, a 25 year old Farmer from Streaky Bay, South Australia. He enlisted on 30 March 1917; and subsequently Died of Disease, 22 October 1918.

3508 Private Thomas BENSON, a 26 year old Groom from Albury, New South Wales. He enlisted on 20 January 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

112 Private Charles BOWERS, a 29 year old Labourer from Norwood, South Australia. He enlisted on 19 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3372 Private Arthur Cecil Copley BROOK, a 23 year old Station Overseer from Orroroo, South Australia. He enlisted on 21 March 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3351 Private Samuel Henry BROOKS, an 18 year old Stable hand from Petersburg, South Australia. He enlisted on 5 March 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3474 Private Arthur John BYRNE, a 27 year old Manager from Willunga, South Australia. He enlisted on 4 October 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

3477 Private Gilbert McCullaugh CAMPBELL, a 26 year old Clerk from Streaky Bay, South Australia. He enlisted on 31 March 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3484 Private David Wallace CHALMERS, a 21 year old Farmer from Koolunga, South Australia. He enlisted on 11 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3506 Private Joseph Raymond CHATTERTON, a 21 year old Area Officer from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 16 July 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3475 Private Cecil Kennion COOK, a 26 year old Farmer from Minlaton, South Australia. He enlisted on 21 March 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 29 April 1919.

3476 Private Leonard Albert CORDON, a 23 year old Farmer from Gawler, South Australia. He enlisted on 28 February 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 March 1919.

 

938 Private John Nicholson DALZELL, a 24 year old Farm worker from Oaklands, South Australia. He enlisted on 27 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 September 1919.

3466 S/Sgt Thomas DAVIS, a 33 year old Labourer from Hilton, South Australia. He enlisted on 8 February 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 2 January 1919.

3513 Private John Eric DONOVAN, a 19 year old Farmer from Ringarooma, Tasmania. He enlisted on 21 August 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3507 Private Rupert Oswald DOUGLAS, a 36 year old Farmer from Moriarty, Tasmania. He enlisted on 16 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 February 1919.

 

3509 Private Henry Angus FITZMAURICE, a 30 year old Farmer from Coone Creek, Tasmania. He enlisted on 10 July 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 March 1919.

 

3510 Private Alan Edgar GILBERT, an 18 year old Labourer from New Norfolk, Tasmania. He enlisted on 18 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 29 April 1919.

3373 Private William Joseph GRIGG, a 26 year old Labourer from Hamley Bridge, South Australia. He enlisted on 24 March 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

3479 Private Ernest Edwin HUNT, a 26 year old Farmer from Glandore, South Australia. He enlisted on 27 October 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

3480 Private Clement Belmore JACKA, a 27 year old Clerk & Brewer from Melrose, South Australia. He enlisted on 27 February 1917; and subsequently Died of Accident, 16 October 1918.

 

3467 Private Clair Delacy KINNANE, a 21 year old Farmer from Loxton, South Australia. He enlisted on 19 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 January 1919.

 

3481 Private Norman Alexander Peter McINTYRE, a 38 year old Squatter from Robe, South Australia. He enlisted on 30 March 1917; and subsequently Died of Disease, 22 October 1918, and subsequently was buried at sea.

3486 Private John Victor MICHELSON, a 30 year old Station hand from Milang, South Australia. He enlisted on 13 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 14 March 1919.

 

3511 Private Edward Harold O'BRIEN, an 18 year old Reader from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 10 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

3512 Private Lyell PEASE, an 18 year old Farmer from Burnie, Tasmania. He enlisted on 16 May 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

3489 Private Wilfred Charles TAYLOR, a 22 year old Farmer from Morphett Vale, South Australia. He enlisted on 23 July 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 July 1919.

3482 Private Stanley James Melross THOMAS, a 24 year old Farm Labourer from Port Julia, South Australia. He enlisted on 29 March 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 July 1919.

 

1045 Private William George WILLIAMS, a 19 year old Labourer from Yatina, South Australia. He enlisted on 14 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3483 Private Percy Edwin WILLINGTON, a 28 year old Storekeeper from Melrose, South Australia. He enlisted on 12 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3514 Private Clement Warner WOODBERRY, a 33 year old Farmer from Detention, Tasmania. He enlisted on 9 December 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.
