7th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 16th Reinforcement, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A56 Palermo on 18 April 1916.

The HMAT A56 Palermo weighed 7,597 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 10 January 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:
