RMS Morea

 

8th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 26th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board RMS Morea 20 February 1917.

The RMS Morea weighed 10,890 tons with an average cruise speed of 16 knots or 29.63 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London.  

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

Second Lieutenant Francis Oliver BOYLE, a 26 year old Bandmaster from Sale, Victoria. He enlisted on 16 September 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 December 1918.

 

3231 Private Alan Rutherford DAVISON, an 18 year old Labourer from Rowsley, Victoria. He enlisted on 30 December 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

3230 Private Albert Edward DUGGAN, a 22 year old Labourer from Footscray, Victoria. He enlisted on 15 January 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

 

3232 Private Lyle Joshua EVANS, a 25 year old Labourer from Preston, Victoria. He enlisted on 29 December 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 10 July 1919.

 

3235 Private William Smee FIELD, a 23 year old Stockman from Bendigo, Victoria. He enlisted on 4 December 1916; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 December 1918.

3234 Private James Ernest FILES, a 19 year old Baker from Carlton, Victoria. He enlisted on 12 January 1917; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 30 August 1918.

3233 Private William Joseph FOWLER, a 22 year old Labourer from Oxley, Victoria. He enlisted on 23 November 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

 

3237 Private John James GALLAGHER, an 18 year old Butcher from Warrnambool, Victoria. He enlisted on 23 January 1917; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 3 May 1918.

3261 Corporal Garnet Victor GAYLOR, a 30 year old Clerk from St Kilda, Victoria. He enlisted on 8 September 1915; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 4 May 1918.

3236 Private William Edmund GRIFFITHS, a 30 year old Farmer from Mansfield, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 October 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

 

3226 Private James Stanley HANSON, a 23 year old Clerk from North Melbourne, Victoria. He enlisted on 4 October 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 January 1919.

3239 Private David Samuel HARDIDGE, a 23 year old Orchardist from Croydon, Victoria. He enlisted on 29 September 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 10 July 1919.

R422 Private Frederick HOLT, a 34 year old Labourer from Melbourne, Victoria. He enlisted on 13 October 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 March 1919.

3238 Private Arthur Roy Summerton HOPKINS, an 18 year old Moulder from Carlton, Victoria. He enlisted on 23 January 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

 

3240 Private Stanley John JENSEN, a 29 year old Farmer from Orbost, Victoria. He enlisted on 10 November 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 April 1919.

3241 Private Henry James JONES, a 27 year old Farmer from Morwell, Victoria. He enlisted on 3 January 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

 

3244 Private David Lawrence KINNEAR, an 18 year old Farmer from St Arnaud, Victoria. He enlisted on 11 November 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

3242 Private Adolphus KITSON, a 24 year old Farmer from Middle Brighton, Victoria. He enlisted on 13 December 1916; and subsequently Died of Disease, 15 October 1918.

 

3259 Private William John LYNCH, a 27 year old Labourer from Numurkah, Victoria. He enlisted on 23 November 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

 

3246 Private Alexander McCALLUM, a 26 year old Labourer from Beasleys Bridge, Victoria. He enlisted on 2 November 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

3228 Acting Corporal Archibald Stewart Duncan McINTYRE, a 20 year old Labourer from Picola, Victoria. He enlisted on 8 December 1916; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 November 1917.
