Embarkation Roll, 33rd Reinforcement

 

SS Port Darwin

 

9th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 33rd Reinforcement, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board SS Port Darwin 30 April 1918.

The SS Port Darwin was built in 1918 and weighed 8,179 tons with an average cruise speed of 16 knots or 29.63 kmph. It was owned by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line, and manned by Australian officers and mainly by Australian crews. The Port Darwin was scrapped in 1948.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

3651 Private Alexander Charles BADENOCH, a 26 year old Farmer from Bridgewater, South Australia. He enlisted on 21 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

3652 Private Thomas BASSETT, a 33 year old Cook from Port Pirie, South Australia. He enlisted on 23 August 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

3654 Private Reginald Allen CAUST, a 20 year old Blacksmith from Summerton, South Australia. He enlisted on 1 October 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 14 March 1919.

3657 Private Reginald Stanley CHRISTIE, a 26 year old Farmer from Morphett Vale, South Australia. He enlisted on 17 October 1917; and subsequently Died of Disease, 5 December 1918.

3656 Private Sidney Carlyle CHUBB, a 30 year old Farrier from Chicago, South Australia. He enlisted on 16 October 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 January 1919.

3655 Private Alfred Clarendon COOK, a 27 year old Carpenter from Port Pirie, South Australia. He enlisted on 13 October 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 July 1919.

3653 Private James Alfred CREASER, an 18 year old Grocer from Bordertown, South Australia. He enlisted on 16 February 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

3658 Private Percy EARL, a 20 year old Farmhand from Alberton, South Australia. He enlisted on 5 November 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 May 1919.

 

3659 Private Manuel FRANKS, a 39 year old Labourer from Yatala, South Australia. He enlisted on 22 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 10 July 1919.

 

3661 Private John Joseph GREEN, a 25 year old Labourer from Pinnaroo, South Australia. He enlisted on 8 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 July 1919.

3660 Private Raymond Frank GUM, a 23 year old Farmer from Pinnaroo, South Australia. He enlisted on 9 August 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 10 July 1919.
