The following is the Report on Operations from the War Diary of the Imperial Mounted Division Commander Royal Artillery detailing its role at the First Battle of Gaza, Palestine, 26 to 27 March 1917.
25 March 1917
Commander Royal Artillery, Headquarters and Royal Horse Artillery moved to Deir el Belah.
26 March 1917
Royal Horse Artillery of Imperial Mounted Division took part in operations to east and south east of Gaza. 7th Brigade, Honourable Artillery Company were attached to 5th Mounted Brigade and were in action from 1300 till dusk. They were shelled at times. The Brigade Commander was slightly wounded. They returned during night of 26th/27th to Deir el Belah. 1/1st Berkshire Royal Horse Artillery were attached to 6th Mounted Brigade were in action from 1630 till dusk. They were shelled, one man was wounded. They returned during night 26/27 to Deir el Belah. 1/1st Nottinghamshire Royal Horse Artillery was in action from 1630 till dusk they returned during night 26/27 to Deir el Belah.
1/1st "A" Battery Honourable Artillery was in service and returned during night 26/27th to Deir el Belah.
27 March 1917
1/1st "B" Battery Honourable Artillery marched to Beni Sela to refit having broken 10 poles during night march of 26/27th.
28 March 1917
Divisional Ammunition Column converted to Wheel Transport.
