9th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 9th Reinforcement Star Of England Group, embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on board HMAT A15 Star Of England 21 September 1915.

The HMAT A15 Star of England, later renamed Port Sydney, weighed 9,136 tons with an average cruise speed of 13.5 knots or 25.00 kmph. It was owned by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 22 September 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

The last address as a civilian;

1215 Private Stanley Andrew CASTLE, a 19 year old Rail porter from Aldgate, South Australia. He enlisted on 11 May 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 February 1919.

1184 Private William Jesse CLARIDGE, a 22 year old Labourer from Tea Tree Gully, South Australia. He enlisted on 3 May 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 2 January 1919.

1356A Private Reginald William SHARPE, a 22 year old Farmer from Daytrap, via Chinkapook, Victoria. He enlisted on 6 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 April 1919.

1344 Private Albert Maitland STEVENS, a 23 year old Rail worker from Sebastopol, Victoria. He enlisted on 4 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 22 January 1917.

1324 Private Charles Frederick SUHAN, a 24 year old Labourer from Panmure, Victoria. He enlisted on 28 July 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 March 1917.

 

1353 Private Thomas THOMPSON, a 34 year old Farmer from King Valley, Victoria. He enlisted on 14 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 31 January 1918.

1352 Private Charles Augustus TIBBALLS, a 32 year old Deputy from Wonthaggi, Victoria. He enlisted on 14 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 20 September 1919.

1351 Private Willie Grey Cornelius TIBBALLS, a 28 year old Grocer from Lang Lang, Victoria. He enlisted on 14 August 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 January 1917.

 

1359 Private Edward John WATERS, a 22 year old Labourer from Digby, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

1325 Private Ambrose WATSON, a 22 year old Traveller from Hawthorn, Victoria. He enlisted on 9 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 January 1919.

1357 Private Francis Charles WILKEN, a 22 year old Carpenter from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 7 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Killed in action, 30 September 1918.
