8th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 13th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A44 Vestalia on 18 January 1916.

The HMAT A44 Vestalia weighed 5,528 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the Gow, Harrison & Co, Glasgow, and leased by the Commonwealth until 10 March 1917.

8th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 15th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A43 Barunga 7 April 1916.

The HMAT A43 Barunga weighed 7,484 tons with an average cruise speed of 11 knots or 20.37 kmph. The Barunga was previously a captured German vessel called Sumatra. It was manned by Australia officers and crew. The Barunga was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine in the North Atlantic, 15 July 1918.

8th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 16th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A66 Uganda 2 May 1916.

The HMAT A66 Uganda weighed 5,431 tons with an average cruise speed of 10 knots or 18.52 kmph. It was owned by the British India SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 4 December 1916. The Uganda was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine in Mediterranean, 27 May 1918.

HMAT A6 Clan Maccorquodale

 

8th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 17th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A6 Clan Maccorquodale 6 May 1916.

The HMAT A6 Clan Maccorquodale weighed 5121 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the Cayser, Irvin and Co., Glasgow, and leased by the Commonwealth until 14 April 1915. The Clan Maccorquodale was torpedoed and sunk in Mediterranean, 17 November 1917.

2407 Private John BAMFORD, a 31 year old Stevedore from Port Melbourne, Victoria. He enlisted on 11 February 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 29 April 1919.

2408 Private Arthur Stanley BATSON, a 23 year old Farmer from Winchelsea, Victoria. He enlisted on 8 February 1916; and subsequently Died of Disease, 14 October 1918.

2409 Private Leslie Stuart BURNISTON, a 31 year old Agent from Nilma, Victoria. He enlisted on 8 February 1916; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 6 November 1917.

 

2439 Private James Lilburn COMMINS, a 31 year old Grazier from Bairnsdale, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 September 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 25 September 1919.

2440 Private George William Nelson COX, a 22 year old Farm Labourer from Stawell, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 October 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 10 July 1919.

2411 Private Lawrence Walter Charles CUDDY, a 22 year old Labourer from Wonthaggi, Victoria. He enlisted on 15 February 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 January 1919.

 

2412 Private Peter DUNBAR, a 21 year old Horse breaker from Traralgon, Victoria. He enlisted on 23 November 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.

 

2413 Private William Arthur Recell ELLIS, a 23 year old Station Manager from Williamstown, Victoria. He enlisted on 19 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 July 1917.

 

2414 Private Francis Robert HEANEY, an 18 year old Labourer from Traralgon, Victoria. He enlisted on 2 December 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 9 January 1917.

2415 Private Edward Cudmore HIGGINS, a 27 year old Farm Labourer from Glenrowan, Victoria. He enlisted on 31 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 April 1918.

2416 Private Leslie Sylvester HOWARD, a 19 year old Jockey from Malvern, Victoria. He enlisted on 3 December 1915; and subsequently Died of Disease, 3 October 1918.

 

2417 Private George James ISLES, a 20 year old Labourer from Castlemaine, Victoria. He enlisted on 22 November 1915; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 10 January 1917.

 

2418 Private Norman Lawrie KAY, a 28 year old Boot maker from Moreland, Victoria. He enlisted on 30 December 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 25 August 1919.

2419 Private Herbert Charles KEMPTON, a 25 year old Labourer from Lindenow, Victoria. He enlisted on 5 January 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.

 

2421 Private Henry James LAWRENCE, a 20 year old Dairy farmer from Queenscliff, Victoria. He enlisted on 12 January 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 July 1919.

 

2425 Private William Alexander McDONNELL, a 27 year old Horse driver from North Fitzroy, Victoria. He enlisted on 1 November 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.

2423 Private Owen Robert MOODIE, a 32 year old Grazier from Coleraine, Victoria. He enlisted on 12 January 1916; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 22 January 1917.

 

2426 Private Stephen NANKERVIS, a 16 year old Butcher from East Brunswick, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 December 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 July 1919.

2427 Private John Stephen NEWTON, a 37 year old Jockey from Windsor, Victoria. He enlisted on 13 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 March 1919.

2428 Private John NOONAN, a 21 year old Driver from Carlton, Victoria. He enlisted on 22 January 1916; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 22 January 1917.

2430 Private Richard Ernest ROBB, an 18 year old Labourer from Deniliquin, New South Wales. He enlisted on 18 January 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

2431 Private Richard ROBBINS, a 39 year old Driver from Collingwood, Victoria. He enlisted on 22 January 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 24 July 1919.

2436 Private Frank David WADDELL, a 19 year old Farmer from Sarsfield, Victoria. He enlisted on 31 January 1916; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 17 August 1916.

2441 Private Lionel Edward WEEKS, a 23 year old Farmer from Staverton, Terminus, Tasmania. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 18 December 1918.
