HMAT A42 Boorara 

 

2nd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 1st Reinforcements, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A42 Boorara 20 December 1914.

The HMAT A42 Boorara weighed 5,923 tons with an average cruise speed of 10.5 knots or 19.44 kmph. The Boorara was previously a captured German vessel called Pfalz. It was manned by Australia officers and crew and transferred to Commonwealth Government Line, 24 June 1919.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier;

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

620 Private George Henry FISK, a 26 year old Stockman from Doomben, Queensland. He enlisted on 17 September 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 17 August 1915.

622 Private Cecil Maurice FORTESCUE, a 21 year old Civil servant from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 2 September 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 February 1918.

Lieutenant Reginald Norris FRANKLIN, a 31 year old Bank Manager from Sydney, New South Wales / Lismore, New South Wales. He enlisted on 19 September 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

3609 Private Frederick Paul GLATZ, a 30 year old Labourer from Angaston, South Australia. He enlisted on 22 August 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 15 May 1919.

3608 Private Arthur Henry GLOVER, a 21 year old Labourer from Renmark, South Australia. He enlisted on 8 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 19 June 1919.

3610 Private Frank William GRAVESTOCKS, a 29 year old Farmer from Parrakie, South Australia. He enlisted on 14 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 29 April 1919.

 

3599 Private William Walter HUGHES, a 28 year old Colt breaker from Broken Hill, New South Wales. He enlisted on 14 September 1917; and subsequently Returned to Australia 26 December 1918.

3600 Private Vincent Herbert HUNTER, a 21 year old Loco cleaner from Milang, South Australia. He enlisted on 31 May 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 15 May 1919.

 

3629 Private Donald Allan IBBOTT, an 18 year old Student from Bothwell, Tasmania. He enlisted on 5 June 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 15 May 1919.

 

3601 Private George Daniel LYNN, a 26 year old Storekeeper from Penola, South Australia. He enlisted on 16 May 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 15 May 1919.

 

Lieutenant Ronald Horace MACPHERSON, a 42 year old Surveyor from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 23 February 1916; and subsequently was Discharged 11 November 1918.

3602 Private Harold Phillips MASTERS, a 28 year old Farmer from Murray Bridge, South Australia. He enlisted on 30 April 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 15 May 1919.

3603 Private Robert James McLEAN, a 21 year old Farmer from Mundulla, South Australia. He enlisted on 10 July 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 15 May 1919.

 

3604 Private Gordon Clarence Daniel O'CONNOR, a 19 year old Engine cleaner SAR from Alawoona, South Australia. He enlisted on 3 September 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 13 March 1919.

 

3551 Private Percy Bishop PETTITT aka Frederick RYALL, a 23 year old Labourer from Jolimont, Western Australia. He enlisted on 17 May 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 5 March 1919.

 

3546 Acting Corporal Victor George ROBERTS, a 22 year old Miner from Norwood, South Australia. He enlisted on 8 February 1917; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia 1 November 1919.
