4th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, Headquarters Section Wiltshire Group, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire 19 October 1914

The HMAT A18 Wiltshire weighed 10,390 tons with an average cruise speed of 13.5 knots or 25.00 kmph. It was owned by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 2 October 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

552 Private Leonard Rigby BOOTH, a 21 year old Bank clerk from Ballarat, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 October 1918.

20 Driver John Eric BROADBENT, a 21 year old Labourer from Ascot Vale, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 30 August 1918.

Lieutenant Stephen BRUGGY, a 37 year old Soldier / A&I staff from Bendigo, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 June 1919.

10 Signaller George Harold BUSH, a 20 year old Public servant from Bendigo, Victoria. He enlisted on 18 August 1914; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 11 November 1918.

366 Private John Vincent CLAYTON, a 26 year old Auditor from Traralgon, Victoria. He enlisted on 28 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 10 May 1919.

317 Corporal William Edward CURRAN, a 24 year old Clerk from North Fitzroy, Victoria. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 April 1916.

26 Private Lyndhurst Sydney DAVIES, a 23 year old Engineer from Battery Point Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 18 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 November 1919.

553 Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant John DUFFY, a 34 year old Soldier from Albert Park, Victoria. He enlisted on 6 October 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 July 1919.

255 Orderly Room Sergeant Max DUQUENOY, a 35 year old Farmer from Diamond Creek, Victoria. He enlisted on 24 August 1914; and subsequently was Discharged, 26 November 1915.

 

31 Private Frederick Roland FAULKNER, a 21 year old Labourer from Trafalgar, Victoria. He enlisted on 19 August 1914; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 10 May 1917.

 

21 Driver Samuel George GRAYDON, a 29 year old Farmer from Bow Hill, Victoria. He enlisted on 19 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 24 September 1918.

 

1129 Signaller Clarence Edward HAMDORF, a 23 year old Chauffeur from Jeparit, Victoria. He enlisted on 24 April 1915 but failed to embark with RHQ. Embarked with the 7th Reinforcement. At the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 June 1919.

4th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, "A" Squadron Anglo Egyptian Group, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A25 Anglo Egyptian 19 October 1914.

The HMAT A25 Anglo-Egyptian weighed 7,379 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the Nitrate Producers SS Co, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 16 April 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:
