HMAT A30 Borda

 

13th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 12th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A30 Borda 20 October 1916.

The HMAT A30 Borda weighed 11,136 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 10 September 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Full name of the soldier

1944 Private Allen Henry Ellis COURTNEY, a 24 year old Farmer from Golden Bower Mine Marysville, Victoria. He enlisted on 21 February 1916; and subsequently Died of Disease, 6 December 1918.

1943 Private Cyril CRAMERI, a 22 year old Mechanic from Toora, Victoria. He enlisted on 9 November 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 July 1919.

 

1961 Private Andrew FIRTH, a 25 year old Farmer from Somerville, Victoria. He enlisted on 4 July 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 March 1919.

 

1948 Private Edgar Charles GOODWIN, a 23 year old Blacksmith from Latrobe, Tasmania. He enlisted on 24 April 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 June 1919.

1950 Private Arthur Victor GRAHAM, a 21 year old Labourer from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 24 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 July 1919.

1949 Private Harry Ernest GRAHAM, a 32 year old Farrier from Tatura, Victoria. He enlisted on 17 February 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 9 July 1919.

1956 Private William GREENHILL, a 28 year old Horse breaker from Corryong, Victoria. He enlisted on 17 July 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 25 March 1919.

1960 Private Arthur Alexander GROVES, a 23 year old Farmer from Barmedman, New South Wales. He enlisted on 14 July 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 23 June 1919.

1952 Private Walter GUNYON, a 29 year old Labourer from Yackandandah, Victoria. He enlisted on 17 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 8 May 1919.

 

1953 Acting Corporal Charles Keith HARRISON, a 37 year old Dairy manager from Sale, Victoria. He enlisted on 27 April 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia at own expense, 30 September 1919.

1954 Private Frank Ormond HART, a 21 year old Wool presser from Kensington, Victoria. He enlisted on 31 May 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 23 June 1919.

 

1955 Acting Sergeant Claude Llewellyn JAGGAR, a 35 year old Pastoral Overseer from Sth Yarra, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 February 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 September 1921.

1941 Private Robert JONES, a 30 year old Clerk from Kensington, Victoria. He enlisted on 16 June 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 4 January 1919.

 

1957 Private Thomas James LEEHANE, a 43 year old Farrier from Carlton, Victoria. He enlisted on 3 February 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 March 1919.

1958 Private Rupert William LITTLE, a 27 year old Auctioneer from Korumburra, Victoria. He enlisted on 19 June 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 August 1919.

 

1967 Private Angus Alexander McDONALD, a 26 year old Farmer from St Arnaud, Victoria. He enlisted on 18 March 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 9 February 1919.

1942 Private Clarence Reginald McEVOY, a 24 year old Public servant from Castlemaine, Victoria. He enlisted on 1 July 1916; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 2 April 1919.

1962 Private Henry MOSELY, a 23 year old Labourer from Richmond, Victoria. He enlisted on 29 February 1916; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 1 December 1917.

 

1964 Private Arthur Caldwell NUGENT, a 21 year old Farrier from Berringama, Victoria. He enlisted on 26 April 1916; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 6 July 1919.
