HMAT A8 Argyllshire

 

7th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 9th Reinforcement, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A8 Argyllshire on 30 September 1915.

The HMAT A8 Argyllshire weighed 10,392 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the Scottish Shire Line Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 24 January 1918.

1549 Private Arthur Clive GENTLE, a 19 year old Postal worker from Mt McDonald, New South Wales. He enlisted on 28 August 1915; and subsequently Died of Disease, 21 October 1918.

1548 Private Reginald Ernest GILLAM, an 18 year old Farm labourer from Burrundulla, New South Wales. He enlisted on 10 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 13 April 1919.

1546 Private Sidney Herbert GOODFELLOW, a 32 year old Labourer from Moss Vale, New South Wales. He enlisted on 20 September 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 September 1916.

1545 Private George GRAHAM, a 19 year old Labourer from Coffs Harbor, New South Wales. He enlisted on 6 August 1915; and subsequently Died of Accident, 13 January 1916.
