My grandfather, William John Porter, was a precision lathe operator at the railway Workshops in Ipswich was a militia member of the light horse field ambulance. I have a photograph of him in uniform at the kitchens at a camp about 1940. While I know from my mother's writings that his unit became part of the first cavalry brigade, I don't know, but assume from this web-site, and as he came from Ipswich, that it must have been the 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment (QMI). Is anyone able to confirm this at all? I can be contacted at Mark.McElligott@ausport.gov.au.

Thanks
