Knowing of my interest in MG units (my grandfather was killed in the British MG Corps in 1917) a friend in Melbourne sent me a lapel badge he had bought many years ago. It is circular (1" diameter), has a gilt, embossed surround and a clear glass/perspex centre containing a coloured "unit=style" rectangle divided into two triangles, the upper purple/grey, the lower orange/sand, on a beige background. It is attached to a card marked as above, together with "Gallipoli 20-5-15". Bean refers to 3rd LH Bde having the MG sections of the 2nd and 4th Light Horse distributed on 19-5-15 to repel any further Turkish attacks. Does anyone have any more information about this unit and whether the badge was possibly a post-War reunion product, or even a locally-made pre-Gallipoli item.

Many thanks
