That Breaker Morant was executed by firing squad there is no doubt.As to the justice of this and other acts of war it is questionable. Handcocks name was taken from the Bathurst memorial at the request of Lord Kitchener and his officials in 1920 or so. It was then re-instated when the (I guess)locals realised what a terrible thing had been done. This and the facts from the actual court martial would lead us to believe that a tragic tho necessary mistake had been made. Necessary to appease the German government and to stop WW1 starting in 1900, and tragic because the orders had definitely been given to bring no prisoners and the German missionary most certainly was pro to the Boars cause. Yes, we are able to accord the Breaker the honour he so deserves.
