If it is genuine it will have stamps on it that show at least the broad arrow and usually DD for defence department (WD for english issue items,,, War dept,) Canadian have a C with the arrow. May have CGHF or the manufacturers name if it was a contract job, however I would hazard an educated guess that if it is Australian made it isnot WWI issue. The most likely source of the buckets issued to the 3rd, 4th and 5th Brigades was british, the same as the swords which were issued at the same time. Rifle buckets were only issued in early/mid 1918 to those 3 brigades, and were not made in Australia as part of the war contracts as far as I know.
