My great grandfarther was in England at as part of the nsw lancers who were competing in tournaments for queen victorias jubilee celebrations. The boar war broke out the day before they left england for australia. They went directly to South africa from England. I have a really good book on the subject called Sword and Lance, written by Martin J buckley. it was printed by the Northern Star Newspaper, Lismore about 1988 and it has the National Library of Australia ISBN 0 9591291 1 1 (in case anyone is interested.)
