The statue you are looking at is a copy of the original which was set up on the Suez Canal. It was destroyed by arabs in 1956. Two copies were made,,,, one in Albany WA the other in Canberra ACT. The are rather exciting in the way the horses and riders have been composed. However,,,,, It is unlikely that the horses heads bear any resnblance to any "existing" horse,,,, they are rather styalised. If this horse was used as a model for the design it would be difficult to see any real likeness. THere is a story around here that the head of the Australian horse was copied off Sandy but as to the accuracy of that I cant comment.
