I am seeking information on the Adelaide Lancers. My close relatives served with the Adelaide Lancers, the East Riding Yeomanry and the 9th ALH. I know that in 1886, it was redesignated the Adelaide Lancers. In 1895 the unit was absorbed into the South Australian Mounted Rifles (SAMR)'A'Squadron. The Unit eventually became the 16th ALH Regt. What role did the Adelaide Lancers play in WW1 ? How were they absorbed into the Australian Army's order of battle as at the 1st of September, 1939 ?.
