I will in the future, try to compile a Military History of my family and would appreciate any information as to to how I go about getting further details relating to my Granfather and his Unit, Service etc. After the 1st WW I believe he was in the Home Guard during the 2ndWW. (Following details obtained from 1st WW Nominal Roll): Silas John DAVERN, number 1010 (Private) A.F.C. Date of enlistment:2/3/15 R.T.A. (Returned to Australia) 22/9/19. I believe he was in the 1st Light Horse Regiment. I am also chasing details in relation to my great Uncle Thomas Cole DAVERN who joined the New Zealand Army (Canterbury Regiment I think) and was KIA at the Somme in 1916
