Tom I take it that your family came form Tasmania. There were three Davern brothers from St Marys in Tasmania who were all killed in World War One. Your great uncle, Pte Thomas Cole Davern, regimental number 6/2591 of the 1st Battalion, Canterbury Regiment, NZEF died on Wednesday 27 September 1916 age 23. He has no known grave and his name is on the Caterpillar Vally (NZ) Memorial on the Somme, France. He also served on Gallipoli, and was the son of homas and Tryphena Davern, 53 Lyttleton Street, Launceston, Tasmania. Hope this is of further interest.
