I was rereading your inquiry again and in all the coment I think we missed the main point you were after.
That the Boers were to be equated as Terroist is to miss the point of the tactics used by them.
For one they were defending their land after being pushed out by the British who were land hungary for the Gold of the Transval, The compasision between some ones idea of a terrist to that of a Freedom fighter does not hold here.
They fought in small groups against military targets when it suited them but mainly fought as formed bodies of men.
You can equate there war to your own War of Inderpendece and Botha like your George Washington. Would you call the Minute men Terroists?
