Peter, I too had a forebear in the 4th ALH regiment, #1089 Tpr Joshua Joseph Dial. The (the 4th)Brigade's colour patch was a dark blue triangle. The 4th ALH Regiment's colour patch was a light blue upper over a dark blue lower in a diagonal shape. The 12th ALH Regiment's colour patch was a black over blue diagonal. There were three regiments in the 4th ALH Brigade: the 4th, 11th and 12th. The 4th Regiment fought on the Gallipoli peninsular but the 11th and 12th regiments were disbanded and served as reinforcements to other regiments. Refer to Volume VII, The AIF in Sinai and Palestine, of the Official History of Australia in the War of 1914-1918 by H.S. Gullett. Hope this is of some assistance.
