To say that the 46th Infantry Battalion was COMPLETELY men from Victoria is somewhat misleading. Although the ORIGINAL battalion was RAISED in Victoria the 7th Reinforcements of the 46th Infantry Battalion actually sailed from Sydney on 17th November 1916 aboard transport SS 'Port Napier' with the majority (if not ALL) of these men being from NEW SOUTH WALES, and most enlisted between August-November 1916. Subsequently, the 8th Reinforcements of the 46th Infantry Battalion sailed from Fremantle (in WESTERN AUSTRALIA) on 29th December 1916 aboard transport HMAT A34, 'Persic' and comprised mostly of Westralians.
