Barry, if you have the time and inclination it might be worth your while taking a look at the Review of Reviews for that year. At present I'm only onto 1899 Vol 2 which is covering the arguments in Parliament as to whether or not War would be declared in the Transvaal (September) and up to when the War was six weeks in action. Interestingly, an article by the Australian correspondent for the R.OF Reviews Dr Fitchett, has a full page article on the offer from Queensland to send 250 mounted rifles and a machine-gun, and writes what he descrobes as the Australian view of the S.African crisis. Back to your inquiry however, I am following through on other articles submitted which describe graphically exactly just what did happen with those taken prisoner and those who "took no prisoners", otherwise I'd do it for you. It's not joyous reading. If you were to access the dates you are interested in concerning Breaker M. the (London)Review of Reviews might be of interest. Good hunting. E.K.
