I can see it being very difficult to identify your sword without a photo or accurate sketch. If cavalry, then the blade has probably been shortened. Twin fullers would suggest a blade made pre-1800. But broadly speaking, this form of blade was still being made into the 19th Century in some countries..eg France...and late into the 19th Century in eg Austria and Prussia. And there are other exceptions. I assume the guard is of stel or iron sheet and the three cutouts are long and emulate a 4-bar cast guard?. John.M.
