There are other significant anniversaries peculiar to Australia's miltary heritage this year, being:

 The centenary of the wearing of the Rising Sun style badge by the first contingents of Australian Commonwealth Horse that arrived in South Africa in March 1902.  20 March: the 85th anniversary of Lieutenant F.H. McNamara (any relation to you?), No. 1 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps becoming the only member of the AFC to win the Victoria Cross for his action in the raid on Tel el Hasi, Palestine in 1917.  11 April: the 85th anniversary of the First Battle of Bullecourt in 1917 during World War One.  3 May: the 85th anniversary of the Second Battle of Bullecourt in 1917 during World War One.  5-8 May: the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Coral Sea in 1942.  31 May-1 June: the 60th anniversary of the Japanese midget submarine attack on Sydney Harbour in 1942.  31 May: the centenary of the signing of the Peace at Pretoria on 31 May, 1902 to end the South African Boer War.  7 June: the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Messines, Belgium in 1917 during World War One.  22 July-16 November: the 60th anniversary of the Battle of the Kokoda Trail in Papua in 1942.  1 August-14 November: the 85th anniversary of the Third Battle of Ypres in 1917 during World War One.  25 August-5 September: the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Milne Bay, Papua 1942.  23/24 October-4 November: the 60th anniversary of the Battle of El Alamein, Egypt in 1942.  31 October: the 85th anniversary of the Charge of of Beersheba, Palestine by the Australian Light Horse in 1917.

Oh, and I forgot: 27 February - the centenary of the death of Lieutenant Harry 'Breaker' Morant and Lieutenat Peter Joseph Handcock.
