Speaking as a Brit, I can assure you that the British cavalry were not wanting in courage, as they were to demonstrate at Huj (8.11.17) and at El Mughar (13.11.17) in the weeks after Beersheba. Chauvel openly admitted that he showed favoutism towards Grant's brigade and in selecting them and not the Yeomanry for the charge.
