I was wondering if the last of the Chauvel's was still alive, so with Elyne, the eldest daughter's passing they are now no more. Her famous children's story about the Silver Brumby in available on video in North America, a new Zealander named Russell Crowe has a bit part! When Simon Wincer was preparing "The Lighthorsemen" film , Elyne lent him a copy of her fine book on the Lighthorse, which I have. Now as an aside to Melissa, she might like to check John Lisle's website devoted to the Battle of Beersheba! It gives a very exact accounting militarily speaking. <www.outbacksolutions.com/Beersheba-article.htm> As for Grant, in the film general Sir Harry Chauvel's "Put Grant straight at it! Remains the phrase which forever put him in history! General Sir Harry & his wife had two sons & two daughters, now all are gone. Sincerely, John L. Matthew (Toronto)
