Captain William James Ellery PHILLIPS, a 24 year old Medical practitioner from Mitchell Street, Hyde Park, South Australia. He enlisted on 1 December 1915 and was allotted to the Medical Officers which embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board RMS Osterley on 15 January 1916. PHILLIPS was absorbed into the 13th Battalion as Battalion Medical Officer, 6 February 1916. Subsequently, PHILLIPS was Wounded in Action, 7 March 1918. After the Great War, PHILLIPS Returned to Australia, 9 July 1920. PHILLIPS was awarded the Military Cross.
