During the Great War, the 2nd LHR saw service in Egypt, Gallipoli, the Sinai Peninsula, Palestine and Jordan. It returned to Australia in March 1919.

571 Private Albert William John TALLENTIRE, a 22 year old Rail wagon builder from North Lismore, New South Wales. He enlisted on 23 August 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 14 May 1915.
