9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Major JW Parsons and Lieutenant R Wilkinson and 160 Other Ranks also marched in from Anzac. Major Barlow and the men who left Anzac on the night of 18/19th December arrived on 26 December 1915.

1917
Thursday, December 27, 19179th Light Horse Regiment Location - Suffa; Balin, Palestine.
9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - 0545 The 10th Infantry Division's attack on Camel's Hump, Shabuny and Kefr Namah commenced. 3rd Light Horse Brigade on the left of 10th Infantry Division advanced simultaneously. 9th Light Horse Regiment advanced and occupied strong patrol line Sq O7A.5.2 J12B.0.3 and J11B.3.1 pushing forward strong patrols into Sqs J5B J6C and O1C. These advanced patrols met with opposition from enemy posts in Sqs J5b and O1A.
The line Sqs O7A.5.2 J12B.0.3 J11B.3.1 was held during the night. Regimental Headquarters established in Sq J12D.3.2. 10th Infantry Division gained all their objectives. Their advance up Camel Hump preceded by our heavy barrage was very splendid.
At 1730 our advanced patrols withdrew to line held by Regiment reporting enemy position in SqJ5b had been evacuated. Night passed uneventfully.
3rd Light Horse Brigade War Diary - At 0835 main defensive line from Balin eastward to Wadi Shamy was occupied with 10th Light Horse Regiment holding right sector and 9th Light Horse Regiment left sector.
Touch was gained with 6th Royal Irish Fusiliers on the right and 11th Light Horse Regiment on left. Enemy shelled neighbourhood of Brigade Headquarters but otherwise there was slight enemy activity in front of the Brigade sector. 29th Infantry Brigade was meeting strong enemy opposition in their advance to occupy the Namah Ridge. The demonstrating patrols pushed forward by 10th Light Horse Regiment and 9th Light Horse Regiment from the defensive line reached line north of Wadi Shamy, drawing machine gun and rifle fire from enemy positions at Khurbetha Ibn Harith. On strong patrols of the 10th Light Horse Regiment threatening the right flank of the Turks on Namah Ridge the latter withdrew.
At 1200 the 29th Infantry Brigade, after a strong enemy opposition, gained their objective and occupied the Kefr Namah ridge. The situation became quiet and at 1800 and the demonstration patrols of 10th and 9th Light Horse Regiments were withdrawn. Casualties in the Brigade for the day's operations had been nil.
