Thursday, August 3, 1916 –
Bally Bunion
General Camp Routine with daily patrols to about 6 miles out from camp.
Friday, August 4, 1916 –
Bally Bunion
Regiment moved out from Bally Bunion and arrived Hill 70 at 1430, watered horses, fed and camped for remainder of day and night.
Saturday, August 5, 1916 –
Hill 70
Left Hill 70 0645 and continued trek east north east for about 5 miles, short halt, then proceeded to Bir el Nuss and watered horses. On again to Nagid when Brigade attacked, 10th Light Horse on right flank. Enemy’s machine gun fire well directed but few casualties. After about 2 hours fighting enemy hoisted white flag when some 500 prisoners were taken with 3 machine guns.
Regiment then returned to Nagid 1750, watered and fed horses.
Left Nagid 2000 and arrived at a position.
2200 Bivouacked for night and returned to Nagid 0900 6 August.
Sunday, August 6, 1916 –
Hod Nagid
Enemy supposed to have evacuated Qatia, proposed that 10th Light Horse to harass them on right flank near Sagia about 12 miles east of Nagid.
Monday, August 7, 1916 –
Hod Nagid
Advanced about 2 miles north east, passed several evacuated camps, followed trail until Sagia was reached when enemy opened fire on advanced party, 10th Light Horse “C” Squadron, who retired and took up outpost position for night. 8th Light Horse Regiment went into action with our 10th Light Horse on stand by. 8th Light Horse returned after sundown.
