The transcription:
8 August
Left camp 1500, Regiment 214 strong, with orders to move out and co-operate in movement on enemy's rear. Reached Qatia 1800, bivouacked, fed and watered horses and moved on at 2100 through Oghratina, moved into positions occupied by Mounted Division by 0700 next morning. Position was east side of high ground immediately west and north west of Hod el Hisha.
9 August
On arrival in position we were received by high explosive shelling and received orders at 1100 to attack enemy's position. Advanced 1 mile and came under enemy's heavy shell, machine gun and rifle fire. Drove enemy back 1½ to 2 miles when he counter attacked with heavy reinforcements and drove us back to our first position. Fighting kept up till 1700 when we fell back on Abu Elafein and afterwards returned to Oghratina and bivouacked for the night.
Casualties.
3 Killed.
2 Officers and 14 Other Ranks wounded.
