"At a mile distant their thousand hooves were stuttering thunder, coming at a rate that frightened a man - they were an awe inspiring sight, galloping through the red haze - knee to knee and horse to horse - the dying sun glinting on bayonet points..." Trooper Ion Idriess

Poppies laid on the London Cenotaph

The following Roll of Honour, while incomplete, reflects the large number of casualties suffered by the British forces during the Battle of el Qatiya. Included in the list are men who were killed in action, died of wounds or died as a consequence of being incarcerated as a prisoner or war.

The Roll of Honour contains the soldier's full identity where ever possible, the unit to which he was attached, the cause of death and the date of death.
