3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 9th Reinforcements Makarini Group, embarked from Melbourne, Vic on board SS Makarini 15 September 1915.
The SS Makarini weighed 10,624 tons with an average cruise speed of 13 knots or 24.07 kmph. It was owned by G.D.Tyser & Co, London. Accommodation for 750-steerage class passengers. Built by Workman, Clark & Co, Belfast, she was launched on 3rd Feb.1912. In 1914 Tyser's was taken over by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line (Port Line) and she was renamed SS Port Nicholson. Mined and sunk 15 miles West of Dunkirk 15 January1917. 1307 Private Theodore Thomas AUSTIN, a 24 year old Horse breaker from Hobart, Tasmania. He enlisted on 29 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 5 February 1919.
1308 Private Thomas Arthur BAILEY, a 26 year old Blacksmith from New Norfolk, Tasmania. He enlisted on 13 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.
1310 Private Charles Robert CALLOW, a 20 year old Pot presser from Deloraine, Tasmania. He enlisted on 26 June 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 May 1919.
1309 Private Albert Victor CHRISTIE, a 22 year old Grocer from Leehan East, Tasmania. He enlisted on 12 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 17 July 1919.

1313 Private Colin Robert HARDY, a 21 year old Farm hand from Malua, Tasmania. He enlisted on 9 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.
1315 Private Edward Thomas HARVEY, an 18 year old Farm worker from West Kentish, Tasmania. He enlisted on 21 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 March 1919.
1314 Private Frank HITCHENS, an 18 year old Blacksmith from Cressy, Tasmania. He enlisted on 20 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 8 May 1919.
1312 Private Charles HORN, a 21 year old Groom from High Peak, Tasmania. He enlisted on 13 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.
1316 Private Cyril Lance NEWITT, an 18 year old Butcher from Beaconsfield, Tasmania. He enlisted on 15 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 July 1919.

1318 Private Edward Horace TRAVERS, an 18 year old Labourer from Derwent Park, Tasmania. He enlisted on 19 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Demobilised, 16 October 1919.
1319 Private Herbert Alexander WARD, a 27 year old Stockman from Glenorchy, Tasmania. He enlisted on 11 August 1915; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 9 August 1916.
