7th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, Regimental Headquarters Section, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A33 Ayrshire 20 December 1914.

The HMAT A33 Ayrshire weighed 7,763 tons with an average cruise speed of 13 knots or 24.07 kmph. It was owned by the The Scottish Shire Line Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 9 January 1918.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Full name of the soldier

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

Lieutenant Colonel John MacLean ARNOTT, a 46 year old Manufacturer from Strathfield, New South Wales. He enlisted on 17 October 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 26 May 1919.

 

21 Signaller Robert Edgar BATTERHAM, a 21 year old Stockman from Gleniffer, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 March 1916.

7 Armourer Sergeant Thomas Peter BLACK, a 32 year old Mechanical Engineer from Fairfield, New South Wales. He enlisted on 6 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 March 1916.

8 Trumpeter Driver William Fisher BOAG, a 26 year old Horse breaker from Seaham via West Maitland, New South Wales. He enlisted on 26 September 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 14 November 1916.

Lieutenant Adjutant William George BOARD, a 24 year old Accountant from Hamilton via Newcastle, New South Wales. He enlisted on 16 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Discharged in Britain, 19 February 1919.

34 Sergeant Cook George BRENNAN, a 39 year old Clerk from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 10 January 1918.

17 Private Jack Alexander BROWN, a 21 year old Painter from Leichhardt, New South Wales. He enlisted on 7 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 25 September 1915.

 

1 Driver Motor Transport Walter John CAVANAGH, a 22 year old Labourer from Goulburn, New South Wales. He enlisted on 22 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 November 1918.

631 Corporal George CHILVERS, a 28 year old Seaman from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 21 April 1918.

22 Driver Thomas COOK, a 25 year old Butcher from Wollongong, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 August 1915.

20 Driver Phillip George CORNELL, a 21 year old Farmer from Trangie, New South Wales. He enlisted on 14 October 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 November 1918.

11 Signaller Cecil Harrop COUPLAND, an 18 year old Clerk from Tamworth, New South Wales. He enlisted on 2 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 30 August 1918.

15 Medical Officer Orderly Thomas CRUDDEN, a 31 year old Labourer from Iona, Victoria. He enlisted on 7 October 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 23 December 1918.

 

25 Private Henry Joseph DYKES, a 22 year old Drover from Kendall, New South Wales. He enlisted on 19 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 25 July 1917.

 

32 Regimental Sergeant Major Claude Cadman EASTERBROOK, a 25 year old Soldier / A&I staff from New Lambton via Newcastle, New South Wales. He enlisted on 24 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 28 June 1919.

33 Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant Albert EDWARDS, a 29 year old Soldier from “Hollybrook”, Forbes, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 3 December 1918.

 

Dr Captain Hugo FLECKER, a 30 year old Doctor from Neutral Bay, New South Wales. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 13 February 1917.

387 Private Gordon Christopher FROST, a 30 year old Sailor from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 10 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 3 September 1915.

 

Vet Captain Sydney Joseph GILBERT, a 30 year old Veterinary Surgeon from Clovelly, New South Wales. He enlisted on 10 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 November 1919.

633 Private Sidney Albert GREEN, a 28 year old Clerk from Woomargama Station via Albury, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 4 May 1917.

 

Lieutenant /Quartermaster Christopher George Henry Matthew Ambrose HESSION, a 20 year old Traveller from Surry Hills, New South Wales. He enlisted on 20 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 25 December 1918.

35 Private James Thomas HILL, a 29 year old Saddle & harness maker from Cowwarr, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 October 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 February 1918.

26 Signaller Harry Archibald HOWELL, a 20 year old Bookkeeper from Bullarah via Moree, New South Wales. He enlisted on 19 October 1914; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 18 March 1916.

 

30 Private Richard JACKSON, a 20 year old Baker from Nevertire, New South Wales. He enlisted on 5 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 September 1918.
