9th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 10th Reinforcement Ballarat Group Melbourne, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A70 Ballarat 9 September 1915.
The HMAT A70 Ballarat weighed 11,120 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London. The Ballarat was torpedoed by a submarine in the English Channel, 25 April 1917 and sank the next day.

1235 Private Stewart Milne FLEMING, a 19 year old Grocer from Glenlyon, Victoria. He enlisted on 22 May 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 2 August 1919.
