9th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 13th Reinforcement Borda Group, embarked from Adelaide, South Australia on board HMAT A30 Borda 11 January 1916.

The HMAT A30 Borda weighed 11,136 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 10 September 1917.

1824 Private Thomas Bothwick SMITH, an 18 year old Blacksmith from North Richmond, Victoria. He enlisted on 17 July 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

1887 Private Ivan Walter SOUTH, an 18 year old Butcher from Stansbury, South Australia. He enlisted on 21 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 10 July 1919.

1888 Private Gilbert STALKER, a 31 year old Labourer from Strathalbyn, South Australia. He enlisted on 4 October 1915; and subsequently Died of Disease, 31 December 1916.

 

1889 Private Robert Fotheringham THOMSON, a 22 year old Bank Clerk from Kapunda, South Australia. He enlisted on 14 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 15 May 1919.

 

1890 Private William Stephen WARD, an 18 year old Labourer from Edowie, South Australia. He enlisted on 14 October 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 22 May 1919.

1892 Private Norman Stanley WHELLER, a 25 year old Blacksmith from Farrell’s Flat, South Australia. He enlisted on 27 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 16 January 1919.

1893 Private Thomas Richardson WHITE, a 44 year old Plasterer from Adelaide, South Australia. He enlisted on 12 October 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 10 July 1916.

1895 Private Morgan WILLIAMS, a 25 year old Farmer from Nairne, South Australia. He enlisted on 28 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 7 November 1919.

1894 Private Charles William WIMSHURST, a 19 year old Farm Labourer from Penola, South Australia. He enlisted on 22 September 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 18 July 1919.

1897 Acting Sergeant John Samuel WOODALL, a 33 year old Teacher from Adelaide, South Australia. He enlisted on 13 August 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 November 1917.

1901 Private Dougald WOODHOUSE, a 21 year old Labourer from Bute, South Australia. He enlisted on 15 September 1915; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 28 June 1918.
