9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Owing to poor standards of training in the 4th Reinforcements, a progressive syllabus of work was commenced. 75% will require considerable training to bring up to even a moderate standard.
3rd Light Horse Brigade War Diary - Casualties: 8th Light Horse Regiment, one wounded; 9th and 10th Light Horse Regiments, nil.
Wellington Mounted Rifles [Lieutenant Colonel Meldrum] relieved.
8th Light Horse Regiment trenches, readjusted sectors in firing line.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Routine Patrol and Training work carried out.
1917
Thursday, June 7, 1917
9th Light Horse Regiment Location - El Shellal
9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - “B” Squadron with Linacre, Lieutenant FJ; and, 40 Other Ranks moved out at 0900, watered and proceeded to Khirbit Khaseif. Linacre, Lieutenant FJ; and, party were left at Karm and made preparations for concealing themselves. Towards evening the Brigade withdrew to the camp and an explosion was caused at Karm to give the impression that some demolition work had been carried out. “B” Squadron under Siekmann, Major TA, also withdrew towards the wadi with Linacre, Lieutenant FJ; and, his troop's led horses.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Tel el Truny patrol occupied that place without opposition. A few shots were fired during the day from Tel el Rishem and Auja Gorge.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - 3rd Light Horse Brigade sports Zagazig, nine Officers 30 Other Ranks [in addition to the competitors already at Zagazig] proceeded as spectators. Results: - Wrestling on horseback: 9th Light Horse Regiment 2nd. Chariot race 1/2 limber four horses: 9th Light Horse Regiment 2nd. Tent pegging with lance: 9th Light Horse Regiment 1st McIntosh, 1589 Sergeant WP; and, 3rd Runn, 956 Sergeant HE. Tent pegging with sword: 9th Light Horse Regiment 2nd McIntosh, 1589 Sergeant WP; and, 3rd Johns, Trooper. Officers race Kildea, Lieutenant FJ, "Never Again" 3rd. Other Ranks flutter: McCann, 1587 Trooper JF, "Stiffener Joe" 3rd.
