9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Walkers Ridge
9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - We continued fire to support New Zealand and Australian Division on left. Major C Reynell promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and to command the 9th Light Horse Regiment.
3rd Light Horse Brigade War Diary - Preparing for attack of Nek and Baby 700. Heavy bombardment of positions at intervals all night. Moved Brigade Headquarters into lines in rear of No. 8 Sap. Turks shelled in heavily 2100 to midnight. We have in addition one Battalion Cheshires, two companies of Royal Welsh Fusiliers and one company of 71st Royal Engineers at 0430 assembled at the Nek. 8th Light Horse Regiment leading in three lines of 150 men each at 0445 held up by heavy machine gun fire and bombs. No response from our leading troops who were $$ to make good all being killed. At same time we assaulted C trenches W of Chessboard with two companies Royal Welsh Fusiliers who were also mown down and unable to scale cliff or make good. Reinforced latter with two companies of Cheshires but no impression could be made at either places, or at Quinn's or Pope's to our right and side. Then prepared for a counter attack on lines being heavy, 435 out of double the number including 10 out of 18 Officers of the 8th Light Horse Regiment amongst them. Lieutenant Colonel White CO. In the meantime General Russell with New Zealand advanced from our left No. 2 Point and on his left two other assaulting columns tonight.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Training and The Regiment undertook routine work for the day.

9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Madhbeh
9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Captain Sheeley reported from 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance for duty as Residential Medical Officer.
Quinlan, Captain marched out to 8th Light Horse Regiment.
Eley, 119 Sergeant RC, to Bayonet Fighting School, Alexandria.
McDonald, Lieutenant JM, detailed for a special patrol to report on nature of country, enemy defences etc between Sq X1 and El Baghalat. Patrol moved out at 2030 and returned at 0200 having successfully carried out their reconnaissance.
Personnel of patrol as follows:
Runn, 936 Sergeant HE;Daly, 1531 Trooper M;Evans, 1017b Trooper WH;Gilson, 261 Lance Corporal AC;Morgan, 505a Trooper FR; and,Trooper Clark.
Warning Order received that 9th Light Horse Regiment would relieve 8th Light Horse Regiment as garrison of F Section Defence on night 10/11 August.
