9th Light Horse Regiment Location - Gazli Beit Dere
9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - 9th Light Horse Regiment Routine Order No. 1
Para 106. Major JW Parsons, OC “C” Squadron 11th Light Horse Regiment, 4 Officers and 121 Other Ranks arrived on 29th August and has taken up duty with the Brigade. Posted to 9th Light Horse Regiment as D Squadron.
Para 110. Strictest attention will be paid to the sanitation of the camp. Quartermaster will render to Brigade Headquarters daily at 2000 a certificate signed by the QM or Senior Officer present stating that the bivouac area has been inspected and found correct.
2. Outpost. Lieutenant Bryant and 20 men will take u a position on the Ridge in rear of the bivouac. Mount at 1930 and dismount at dawn, leaving 4 men as an outlook post for the day.
3. Road making. Major Parsons, 2 Officers and 20 will carry on road making from top of donga. Lt Col Grant and Abbott will supervise. 1st Relief will parade at 0730 and 2nd at 1415.
4. Table Top Post. Lieutenant Ragless, 1 Sergeant and 12 men will relieve the post on Table Top tomorrow.
7. New Brigade Headquarters. Major Parsons will detail a party of 20 men and 2 NCOs to report to Staff Captain at 0800. A relief will be furnished for 1400.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Syllabus of training for week ending 7th September 1918 issued.
Swords issued to all ranks and orders received that from now onwards, cavalry drill would be adopted.
As trained cavalry instructors were not available officers and Non Commissioned Officers had to make a close study of the Cavalry Training Manual with a view of becoming proficient to instruct those under them. All worked with the keenest interest and after two or three days had a fair knowledge of Cavalry and Sword Drill.
