1st Light Horse Signal Troop, AIF, 4th Reinforcement, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A9 Shropshire 20 March 1915.
The HMAT A9 Shropshire weighed 8,130 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the Federal SN Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 5 August 1917.

904 Sapper Jeffrey William PLAYFOOT, a 21 year old Butcher from Windsor, Victoria. He enlisted on 23 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 1 January 1919.
