7th Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, "C" Squadron, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A31 Ajana 19 December 1914.

The HMAT A31 Ajana weighed 7,759 tons with an average cruise speed of 13 knots or 24.07 kmph. It was owned by the Australind SS Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 12 May 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

The HMAT A55 Kyarra weighed 6,953 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the AUSN Co Ltd, London, and manned by Australia officers and crew. The Kyarra was leased by the Commonwealth until 4 January 1918. The Kyarra was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine in the English Channel, 26 May 1918.

601 Private Murray McALEER, a 22 year old Station hand from Goulburn, New South Wales. He enlisted on 2 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 October 1918.

639 Private William McCARTHY, a 22 year old Labourer from Grahams Hill via Glencoe, New South Wales. He enlisted on 21 October 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 5 November 1917.

640 Private Jack McFARLANE, a 26 year old Station hand from Darlinghurst, New South Wales. He enlisted on 23 November 1914; and subsequently Died of Accident, 30 May 1918.

638 Private Herbert James MORRIS, a 23 year old Miner from Hillgrove, New South Wales. He enlisted on 11 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 December 1918.

 

608 Corporal Knox Rowan NIVEN, a 40 year old Labourer from Paddington, New South Wales. He enlisted on 23 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 1 July 1915.

539 Private Sidney SIMPSON, a 23 year old Labourer from South Bodfield, Lithgow, New South Wales. He enlisted on 5 November 1914; but did not embark; subsequently embarked with "B" Company, 3rd Pioneers, and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 12 June 1919.

607 Private Ernest Samuel SINGLETON, a 36 year old Stockman from Nyngan, New South Wales. He enlisted on 25 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 12 July 1919.

645 Private William SLOSS, a 21 year old Labourer from Katamatite, Victoria. He enlisted on 4 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 April 1919.

 

611 Private Arthur West TREU aka Arthur William BLACK, a 21 year old Labourer from Lochinvar, New South Wales. He enlisted on 4 December 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 3 August 1917.
