1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, "C" Squadron, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A16 Star of Victoria 20 October 1914.

The HMAT A16 Star of Victoria, later renamed Port Melbourne, weighed 9,152 tons with an average cruise speed of 13.5 knots or 25.00 kmph. It was owned by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line Ltd London and leased by the Commonwealth until 2 October 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

The HMAT 42 Boorara weighed 5,923 tons with an average cruise speed of 10.5 knots or 19.44 kmph. The Boorara was previously a captured German vessel called Pfalz. It was manned by Australia officers and crew and transferred to Commonwealth Government Line, 24 June 1919.

The HMAT A6 Clan Mccorquodale weighed 5121 tons with an average cruise speed of 15 knots or 27.78 kmph. It was owned by the Cayser, Irvin and Co., Glasgow, and leased by the Commonwealth until 14 April 1915. The Clan Mccorquodale was torpedoed and sunk in Mediterranean, 17 November 1917.

Lieutenant Douglas Gordon CAMPBELL, a 27 year old Grazier from Bombala, New South Wales. He enlisted on 12 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 21 October 1917.

774 Private Robert Laing CHAMBERS, a 20 year old Rancher from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 27 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 18 May 1915.

775 Private Henry George CHAPMAN, a 24 year old Labourer from Rockdale, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 25 January 1919.

776 Private Hugh CLARK, a 25 year old Drover from Moree, New South Wales. He enlisted on 25 November 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 18 May 1915.

823 Bugler William Leo CLINCH, a 20 year old Electrical Engineer App from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 1 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 17 September 1919.

777 Private Charles Ernest COWLEY, a 23 year old Station hand from Sydney, New South Wales. He enlisted on 30 November 1914; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 14 February 1919.
