3rd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 31st Reinforcement Commonwealth Group, embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board HMAT A73 Commonwealth 2 November 1917.

The HMAT A73 Commonwealth weighed 6,616 tons with an average cruise speed of 14 knots or 25.92 kmph. It was owned by the P & O SN Co, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 23 June 1917.

HMAT A42 Boorara 

 

2nd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, 1st Reinforcements, embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A42 Boorara 20 December 1914.

The HMAT A42 Boorara weighed 5,923 tons with an average cruise speed of 10.5 knots or 19.44 kmph. The Boorara was previously a captured German vessel called Pfalz. It was manned by Australia officers and crew and transferred to Commonwealth Government Line, 24 June 1919.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

729 Private Joseph Patrick McSTRAVICK, a 21 year old Labourer from North Bundaberg, Queensland. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 27 September 1917.

 

705 Private Francis Patrick NOONAN, a 23 year old Clerk from Townsville, Queensland. He enlisted on 7 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

 

704 Private Leslie William PAGE, a 22 year old Stockman from Townsville, Queensland. He enlisted on 7 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 9 December 1919.

719 Private Harry James PERROTT, a 28 year old Farmer from Mitchell, Queensland. He enlisted on 10 December 1914; and subsequently Died of Disease, 12 October 1915.

733 Private Leonard PORTER, a 19 year old Stockman from Bundaberg, Queensland. He enlisted on 10 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

724 Private Charles Robert PRICE, a 31 year old Fitter from Ipswich, Queensland. He enlisted on 12 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 10 July 1919.

751 Private Geoffrey Richard PURCELL-GILPIN, a 29 year old Stockman from Charters Towers, Queensland. He enlisted on 11 January 1915; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, July 1915.

 

736 Private Andrew RIDDELL, a 34 year old Shearer from Cunnamulla, Queensland. He enlisted on 9 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 October 1915.

706 Private Alexander ROXBURGH, a 28 year old Labourer from Mackinlay, Queensland. He enlisted on 7 December 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

 

739 Private Ernest SHAW, a 24 year old Labourer from Toowoomba, Queensland. He enlisted on 10 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 5 November 1917.

725 Private Alfred Percival SMITH, a 24 year old Clerk from Witney Oxon UK. He enlisted on 8 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 November 1915.

740 Private Claude Vernon SMITH, a 24 year old Station hand from Winton, Queensland. He enlisted on 13 November 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 October 1918.

744 Private Jack Arthur SMITH, a 19 year old Stockman from Tambo, Queensland. He enlisted on 3 February 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 23 September 1916.

701 Private William Douglas SMITH, a 19 year old Stockman from Goondiwindi, Queensland. He enlisted on 27 November 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 3 September 1919.

746 Private Joseph SMYTHE, a 40 year old Blacksmith from Emerald, Queensland. He enlisted on 17 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 21 December 1917.

713 Private Robert William STOWER, a 26 year old Farmer from Southbrook, Queensland. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 31 October 1917.

714 Private Henry Bailey SUTHERLAND, a 23 year old Stockman from Toowoomba, Queensland. He enlisted on 11 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 10 January 1916.

 

734 Acting Sergeant Alfred Vincent TAYLOR, a 36 year old Farmer from Gympie, Queensland. He enlisted on 1 December 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 14 December 1918.

752 Private William Kilpatrick THOMPSON, a 19 year old Jackeroo from Charleville, Queensland. He enlisted on 6 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 14 March 1919.

 

806 Private Thomas Cotton YOUNG, a 19 year old Grazier from Augathella, Queensland. He enlisted on 3 January 1915; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.
