2nd Australian Light Horse Regiment, AIF, Regimental Headquarters Section, embarked from Brisbane, Queensland on board HMAT A15 Star of England 24 September 1914.

The HMAT A15 Star of England, later renamed Port Sydney, weighed 9,136 tons with an average cruise speed of 13.5 knots or 25.00 kmph. It was owned by the Commonwealth & Dominion Line Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 22 September 1917.

The ensuing individual soldier's embarkation information contains the following details:

Rank on embarkation;

Full name of the soldier;

Declared age of the soldier;

The last occupation held;

The last address as a civilian;

Enlistment Date; and,

Fate.

32 Driver William CARL, a 28 year old Stockman from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 2 September 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 7 August 1915.

28 Private Charles CORBERT, a 28 year old Boilermaker from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 25 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 24 September 1918.

 

29 Sergeant George Edward DREWITT, a 29 year old Draughtsman from Mt Morgan, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 April 1918.

8 Farrier Quartermaster Sergeant George Lyon DUNLOP, a 40 year old Blacksmith from Oxley, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 21 November 1916.

 

30 Corporal Lawrence Leslie FLOYD, a 28 year old Clerk from New Farm, Queensland. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Died of Disease, 8 March 1918.

 

Major Thomas William GLASGOW, a 38 year old Grazier from Dingo via Gympie, Queensland. He enlisted on 19 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 6 May 1919.

Adjutant Captain Frederick Thomas Henry GOUCHER, a 30 year old Soldier and Orchardist from Victoria Barracks, Queensland. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 22 January 1917.

12 Private Charles George Gordon GRAY, a 22 year old Stockman from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 22 August 1914; and subsequently was Discharged in Britain, 15 June 1916.

 

16 Private James Maurice HAWKE, a 26 year old Farmer from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 26 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 July 1915.

37 Private Sydney HEATHCOCK, a 22 year old Butcher from Sth Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 11 September 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 August 1918.

39 Regimental Sergeant Major Frederick James HOCKEY, a 44 year old Ganger from Hamilton, Queensland. He enlisted on 24 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 November 1917.

Veterinary Captain Reginald Mitchell HORE, a 26 year old Veterinary Surgeon from Camberoona, New South Wales. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 4 June 1919.

 

25 Private William Denis JAMES, a 27 year old Horse driver from Toowoomba, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 November 1917.

18 Private Gervaise Esdaile JOLLY, a 22 year old Station master from Rockhampton, Queensland. He enlisted on 24 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 22 July 1919.

46 Private Maurice Owen JONES, a 24 year old Carpenter from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 22 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 October 1918.

 

38 Private Thomas Joseph KEIRY, a 34 year old Engine driver from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 22 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 24 September 1918.

13 Private Henry Aubrey KING, a 25 year old Farmer from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 12 November 1917.

 

36 Driver Alfred George LEWIS, a 28 year old Rail worker from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 4 September 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 6 September 1919.

34 Private Gerald John LEWIS, a 20 year old Bank clerk from Gympie, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and subsequently Died of Disease, 1 November 1918.

14 Private Leonard Gregory LOVELL, a 23 year old Salesman from Manly, New South Wales. He enlisted on 2 September 1914; and subsequently was Discharged, 8 October 1914.

 

Regimental Medical Officer Captain George William MACARTNEY, a 27 year old Doctor from Grafton, New South Wales. He enlisted on 25 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 19 October 1918.

19 Corporal James Marshall MacDONALD, a 23 year old Ambulance bearer from Toowoomba, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 13 October 1918.

24 Private John Joseph MANION, a 30 year old Moulder from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 24 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 8 April 1917.

23 Private Parker MARSON, a 19 year old Platelayer from Horse Creek via Mt Morgan, Queensland. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 November 1918.

21 Driver Archibald McDONALD, a 26 year old Labourer from Sea View via Warragul, Victoria. He enlisted on 2 September 1914; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 1 November 1917.

6 Sergeant Cook Matthew PARKER, a 40 year old Carrier from Wooloowin, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and at the conclusion of the war, Returned to Australia, 13 March 1919.

35 Private Edward SEEMAN, a 26 year old Labourer from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and subsequently was Discharged, 13 September 1916.

33 Driver Robert Henry SEFTON, a 31 year old Dairy farmer from Kempsey, New South Wales. He enlisted on 8 September 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 11 November 1915.

Lieutenant Colonel Robert Mackey STODART, a 35 year old Business Manager from Kangaroo Point, Queensland. He enlisted on 19 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 13 February 1917.

15 Private John STRINGER, a 33 year old Labourer from Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 11 July 1917.

 

10 Private Stanley William TAYLOR, a 19 year old Telegraphist from Laidley, Queensland. He enlisted on 25 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 4 May 1915.

Lt/QM Manor Charles TROTTER, a 32 year old Clerk and Cashier from Sherwood, Queensland. He enlisted on 20 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 May 1917.

 

3 Sergeant Trumpeter Christopher UHLMANN, a 24 year old Butcher from Wynnum, Queensland. He enlisted on 21 August 1914; and subsequently was Killed in Action, 21 July 1917.

 

11 Private Arthur George WILSON, a 26 year old Labourer from South Brisbane, Queensland. He enlisted on 8 September 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 15 November 1918.

27 Private Alfred WRIGHT, a 33 year old Labourer from Maryborough, Queensland. He enlisted on 22 August 1914; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 16 October 1918.
