The aim is to give the broadest context to the story and allow the reader to follow the day to day activities of the regiment. If a relative happened to have served in the regiment during the Great War, then this provides a general framework in which the individual story may be told.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - B and C Squadrons practiced the order of field firing with Lewis Guns and advancing under fire.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Orders were issued regarding Pacifist Propaganda some having been found printed on packets of cigarette papers. Orders instructed all ranks to seize these papers whenever found. Owing to heavy rain, rehearsal for Commander In Chief's inspection was cancelled.

9th Light Horse Regiment War Diary - Brigade Field Day. The Regiment moved out at 0930 as advanced guard to the Brigade and encountered the enemy, represented by flags, at Hill 110. A general attack was ordered at 1230 and on completion, the Brigade halted for lunch returning to camp at 1500.
