The HMAT A31 Ajana weighed 7,759 tons with an average cruise speed of 13 knots or 24.07 kmph. It was owned by the Australind SS Co Ltd, London, and leased by the Commonwealth until 12 May 1917.

Embarkation Roll
1171 Sapper Ronald George DUNN, a 20 year old Grocer from Haberfield, New South Wales. He enlisted on 26 February 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 19 April 1919.
1172 Sapper Allen George Edward HEYNE, a 33 year old Lay missionary from Leichhardt, New South Wales. He enlisted on 8 February 1915; and at the conclusion of the war Returned to Australia, 13 January 1919.
1173 Sapper Albert Emmanuel LEE, a 37 year old Chauffeur from Paddington, New South Wales. He enlisted on 26 February 1915; and subsequently Died of Wounds, 21 September 1917.
1174 Sapper Stanley WOODS, a 24 year old Traveller from Double Bay, New South Wales. He enlisted on 9 February 1915; and subsequently Returned to Australia, 29 January 1916.
