Please excuse my ignorance but what does a Pioneer Battalion mean. Thank you for the information on my great uncle who was in 3rd ALHorse. I do not not know how to go about finding his death details. He did come home from WW1 but we cannot find a death certificate. Was this a South Australian battalion and should I look in SA records for his death? any help appreciated. Helen Etheridge,Sydney.
